FIRST ROBOTICS COMPETITION (FRC) KICK-OFF DETAILS

Date:                        Saturday, January 7, 2017
Location:                San Jose State University  (See Campus Map)
Registration:          6:30 – 7:30am (Required to pick up parts) at Morris Dailey Auditorium Lobby
Broadcast:              7:30am at Morris Dailey Auditorium (no food or drinks allowed!!)
Kit Distribution:   Immediately following the video (best guess is about 8:00-8:15am)

Notes:
-It is advisable to arrive on the earlier side. The registration gets long (66 teams).
-We should be completed with kit distribution about 8:45am and gates closed shortly thereafter. There will no further activities after kit distribution. The schedule shown on the FIRST site refers to the kickoff at FIRST headquarters in Manchester, NH,  not at San Jose State.

Please do not bring any food or drinks into the main auditorium or balcony. We are guests of SJSU and want to respect their wishes.

Parking: You may find street parking (read parking restriction signs carefully)
as school is not in session,  or park in the 10th street parking lot.
Parking Permit pay stations on floors 3 and above. (See Campus Map)

**********We will be distributing the kits immediately after the video.**********
The gates will be locked approximately 30 minutes after kit distribution starts.
If you are late, you will have to make arrangements at a later date to pick up your kit at another location at our convenience.

KIT DISTRIBUTION –READ CAREFULLY!!

  • All teams must first register at the auditorium to receive their documents prior to obtaining their kit
  • Kit Distribution will be AFTER the broadcast in the Engineering Building courtyard
  • Whether or not you plan to view the kick-off at Morris Daily, be at the Engineering Building Courtyard by 8:15 am with your registration documents (the process goes quickly)
  • Kit Distribution will be over approximately 8:45 AM & the place locked up.
    If you show up at the last minute, we may not be there!
  • Kits that are NOT picked up will NOT be stored at SJSU.
    You will have to arrange for pick-up at some other time and location of our convenience.
  • You can choose to have someone else pick it up for you IF you provided a surrogate letter IN ADVANCE (see below)
  • At Kit Distribution check in, teams should provide their team roster (for verification). It is not a requirement, but helps speed the process if the person is not one of the two  contacts listed.
  • The person who picks up the kit MUST be an adult 18 years old or older, a member of the team and must present a picture ID (preferably a driver’s license). A parent of a student member will be considered a team member.

Note: Minors cannot sign for the kit!  Photo ID is required!

REMINDER: Surrogate Kit Pickup Deadline 1/4/17: If a team is unable to pick up its Kit of Parts (KoP) at the Local Kickoff they have selected, an alternate, or “Surrogate” team may be designated to do so. The team must provide FIRST with an authorized Surrogate Kit Pickup letter, signed by the Main or Alternate contact, on school or Sponsor letterhead that follows this template: Surrogate Template

All Surrogate Kit Pickup letters must be received at FIRST no later than  1/4/17.
